About Northville

Northville straddles the Wayne-Oakland county line west of Detroit, but its heart is unmistakable: a preserved nineteenth-century downtown along Main and Center streets, where brick storefronts, a bandshell, and walk-up windows for ice cream and coffee keep the sidewalks busy year-round.

The city's historic character is deliberate. Mill Race Historical Village preserves early buildings on the site of the old millpond, Victorian homes climb the hills around downtown, and events like the Victorian Festival, the farmers market and summer concerts in the square lean into that identity. Maybury State Park borders the city to the west with trails and working farm fields.

Northville pairs a small-town center with quick access to the bigger suburbs — Novi, Plymouth and Livonia are all minutes away — which makes its downtown a destination evening out for a wide slice of western metro Detroit.
