About Troy
Troy is Oakland County's retail and corporate center. Big Beaver Road carries the city's commercial spine, from the Somerset Collection — the region's flagship upscale mall — through a long stretch of office towers and business parks along I-75.
Troy is also quietly one of metro Detroit's best cities to eat in. A large and diverse population supports an unusually deep bench of South Asian, East Asian and Middle Eastern restaurants, bakeries and grocers scattered through otherwise ordinary suburban plazas.
The residential side is calm and well-serviced, with a widely respected school district and a large park system. The Troy Historic Village preserves nineteenth-century buildings on a small campus near the civic center.
